Let me introduce myself….
I received a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. I earned a Master of Arts in both Marital and Family Therapy and Art Therapy from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California in 2004. I also became certified as an Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor in 2012. I am currently working on a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy at Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas with expectations of completing the program in the summer of 2023. I am licensed as a LMFT in California, Georgia, and Texas. I was designated as an AAMFT (American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy) Approved Supervisor in 2014.
I have worked in a variety of clinical settings including inpatient, intensive outpatient, and outpatient programs. I have worked with a diverse clientele from many walks of life. I consider myself fortunate for having worked in varied clinical settings with many incredible people (which includes both clients and colleagues)
I believe that clients are the experts in their own lives. Because of this stance, I prefer a more collaborative approach to therapy. My hope is to assist clients in increasing awareness of what skills and resources they possess and how they can get in touch with these abilities. I am integrative in my approach to working with clients. I have extensive training in Narrative Therapy, family systems modalities, and Art Therapy. Art Therapy is an avenue to encourage and enhance symptom reduction and promote self awareness. Art Therapy focuses less on the art as a finished product and more on the experience of the process of creating. Clients are invited to incorporate Art Therapy into services received, but this is not mandated. Additional therapeutic modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
I have been described as warm, compassionate, creative, and curious. I adore diversity and do not discriminate on the basis of class, race, culture, sexual identity, sexual preferences, religious practices, or anything else which may contribute to your value as a person. You are welcome to contact me for a free 15 minute consultation regarding how I may be of help.
